We have absolutely no idea whether the Seattle Seahawks will pull off a Russell Wilson trade this offseason. Recent NFL rumors suggest that things are spiraling out of control between the Super Bowl quarterback and his organization.
Primarily, Russell Wilson is said to be upset over the unlimited power head coach Pete Carroll has. The future first ballot Hall of Famer also wants more control over player personnel decisions, something Carroll has pushed back against.
The backdrop here is Wilson’s agent pointing to four teams that his client would accept a trade to. That includes the Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, Dallas Cowboys and Las Vegas Raiders.
As for the Raiders, they are seemingly committed to Derek Carr under center unless the team can land Deshaun Watson. Just don’t tell that to the quarterback’s brother, former Houston Texans quarterback and current NFL analyst David Carr.

David Carr believes Las Vegas Raiders should trade for Russell Wilson
“If I’m one of those four teams, I’m picking up the phone yesterday. He is everything you want in a quarterback, with endless talent, arm strength, poise and intelligence. Plus, he has the kind of ice in his veins that gives his team a chance to win late in games, no matter how great the deficit,” Carr wrote in a recent column for NFL.com. “He’ll cost a GREAT deal, but the on-field production and leadership you’d get in return would be worth it.”
Well, that’s a tad bit awkward. To be fair, the older Carr is an NFL Media analyst. He can’t be seen as playing favorites. Anyone of an objective mind would also view Russell Wilson as an upgrade over Derek Carr. Even then, we would love to by a fly on the wall at the Carrs’ next family outing.
Will the Seattle Seahawks trade Russell Wilson?
It remains highly unlikely that the Seahawks are going to trade their franchise quarterback. Wilson is coming off a 2020 season in which he put up north of 4,700 total yards with 42 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He’s tallied 148 total touchdowns against 36 interceptions over the past four seasons. That’s just insane stuff.
What we do know is that Russell Wilson has not kept his criticism of the Seahawks’ organization quiet since the 2020 season ended. More than anything, he’s upset with the team’s inability to provide decent protection up front. Wilson, 32, has been sacked a resounding 394 times since he entered the league back in 2012. That’s an average of 44 times per season.

Other NFL teams believe that Wilson will be traded over the next calendar year. Meanwhile, the Seahawks are upset about the quarterback’s public criticism of the organization. That could play a role moving forward.
As it relates to the Raiders, they have made it clear that the expectation is Derek Carr will be their starting quarterback once Week 1 of the 2021 season comes calling.
That changes on a dime should Russell Wilson become more widely available or the team is able to pull off a Deshaun Watson trade. Either move would likely include Carr being traded, something his brother seems perfectly fine with.
