Detroit Lions star takes hilarious jab at Aaron Rodgers while wishing him well with Jets

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff hopes nothing but the best for Aaron Rodgers in New York, however, he is also disappointed he won’t be able to beat him again twice in 2023.

Aaron Rodgers being traded from the Green Bay Packers to the New York Jets earlier this week is not only the biggest story of this offseason, but it is one of the most notable in the history of both franchises.

Following the deal, the New York Jets are now seen by many NFL observers as a legitimate Super Bowl contender with the four-time MVP now leading their offense. As for the Green Bay Packers, they now head into what should be a multi-year rebuilding process led by new QB Jordan Love. The trade also had a major impact on the divisions the two teams play in, especially the NFC North.

With Aaron Rodgers no longer being a massive force for the Packers, they are no longer a yearly favorite to win the division. While most players and staff with the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, and Chicago Bears are probably thrilled by that prospect, Lions signal-caller Jared Goff is sad to see the future Hall-of-Famer leave the division.

Detroit Lions record (2022): 9-8. second place in NFC North

On Thursday night at the Detroit Lions draft party, Goff was asked about Rodgers’ move to New York and had a pretty funny response about the news.

“I wish him the best in New York and I’m sure he’ll do a great job there. But I kind of wish he was still here so we could beat him twice a year.”

The best part about the comment is it takes a jab at the fact that the Lions beat the Packers both times they played them last year. Scoring a 15-9 win in Week 9, then ended Green Bay’s playoff hopes in the final week of the season in a 20-16 victory at Lambeau Field.
