It happened. The Philadelphia 76ers and general manager Bryan Colangelo have agreed to part ways following a dramatic controversy surrounding burner accounts and criticism of the organization from said accounts.
It had been long expected that Colangelo would be on the outs, even after the Sixers’ internal investigation deemed that they did not believe the GM had knowledge of the accounts (more on that here).
This has been a story that’s more indicative of 2018 than anything else. Hot takes on social media. An interest level that is almost on par with this year’s NBA Finals.
Add in the Sixers indicating that Colangelo’s wife was responsible for the burner accounts and head coach Brett Brown taking over interim GM duties, and this is drama at the highest level.
Needless to say those on the Twitterverse had some pretty strong takes regarding Thursday’s news. Here’s the best.

I cannot even begin to imagine the lengthy conversations Bryan Colangelo and his wife have been/will be having.

It was clear that Colangelo was an inept, insecure, destructive, deliberately deceptive rat and I’m pleased to see him gone.

Hinkie died for our sins. Colangelo died for his own.
