It was just last week that Carolina Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold was benched in favor of P.J. Walker during a blowout loss to the New York Giants.

Taking on the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Darnold finds himself on the sideline once again. This time, it comes after he was on the receiving end of a brutal hit.

That’s just brutal stuff right there. It’s also a continuation of Sam Darnold taking a ton of huge hits during Sunday’s game as he attempts to help Carolina break a four-game losing streak.

A lot has been made of the quarterback’s struggles with the trade deadline approaching. Notably, Carolina was linked to Houston Texans star Deshaun Watson before recent reports indicated that the team has pulled out of the sweepstakes.

As for Darnold, indications are that he’s dealing with an injury to his ribs. It’s now yet known the extent of the injury. But Walker remained in the game in helping the Panthers to a touchdown and a 19-10 lead.
