How to Watch TBS Live Without Cable in 2024

Don’t miss out on some of the biggest moments in sports.

This post was written in partnership with Sling TV.

Nowadays, it’s easier than ever to keep up with live sports. You don’t need a costly cable subscription and a long-term contract when you can choose a month-to-month subscription to stream the games you care about most.

For college basketball fans patiently awaiting March Madness, finding a place to watch TBS proves essential, especially come playoff time. On top of this, the station airs a variety of syndicated TV shows such as “Friends,” “The Big Bang Theory,” and “Modern Family.” The good news is that you can find this popular network on several live TV streaming services. Read on for a look at how to watch TBS in 2023.

Which streaming services offer TBS?

Watch TBS with Sling TV (Our preferred streaming service)

Sling TV is a more streamlined streaming service for budget-conscious cord-cutters. Plans start at $40, and you’ll get TBS regardless of which package you choose. Sling’s biggest appeal is the ability to customize your plan to include only the channels you most want — there are plenty of add-ons and plan options to make it your own.

What sports offerings does Sling TV provide?

Sling’s lower cost comes at the expense of a broader channel lineup, which means the standard plans don’t offer as much live sports coverage as its competitors. Most importantly, you can’t find any RSNs here. However, with so many add-on options, Sling offers more for sports fans than initially meets the eye.

Depending on which of the base plans you choose, you can get started with a mix of ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, NFL Network, FS1, and MotorTrend, plus more live sports on TBS, TNT, TruTV, and USA. You can then add a host of extra sports channels with the Sports Extra Add-On, including channels like ACCN, SEC Network, ESPNU, MLB Network, NBA TV, and NHL Network. The exact lineup depends on the base plan you choose, but it’s possible to get a nice mix of national and international coverage on Sling TV.

DIRECTV’s streaming offshoot sticks close to the format of its partner satellite TV service, offering similar plans and channel packages. All packages include TBS, and pricing starts at $79.99 a month. You can stream on as many devices as you want at home and up to three more outside your home network, and there’s unlimited DVR storage to record your favorite teams and shows to catch up later.

What sports offerings does DIRECTV STREAM provide?

DIRECTV STREAM is one of the best all-around streaming options for sports fans of all kinds. The Choice plan offers the best value for live sports, featuring more than 15 dedicated sports channels, plus all your local channels and regional sports networks (RSNs).

With a subscription to the Choice plan, you can keep up with your local teams on channels like Bally Sports or MSG, along with all the biggest national and international sports. You’ll get TBS plus much more across channels like ESPN, Fox Sports 1 (FS1), MLB Network, NBA TV, and NFL Network. There’s plenty of college coverage, too, with channels like ACCN, Big Ten Network, ESPNU, and SEC Network. It’s a great choice for most fans, but it can get a little pricey.

Watch TBS with Hulu + Live TV

Hulu + Live TV is the best all-in-one streaming plan for cord-cutters who want some of the top on-demand streaming without losing the best of what cable has to offer. The platform features 90-plus live channels and more than 70,000 episodes and movies, many of which are critically acclaimed Hulu originals. To top it off, you also get access to Disney Plus and ESPN Plus and unlimited cloud DVR storage. All plans feature the same live TV channels, including TBS, but you can customize the amount of advertising you see.

What sports offerings does Hulu + Live TV provide?

Hulu + Live TV doesn’t have as much live sports coverage as DIRECTV STREAM — there are no RSNs here — but it holds up impressively well for fans who want to keep up with a wide range of national and international events.

Hulu + Live TV features a dozen sports-focused networks, including ESPN, ESPNU, NFL Network, and FS1, along with your major local networks and key channels like TBS, TNT, and USA. When you also throw in ESPN Plus, that means you can watch pro and college sports from some of the top conferences and leagues across the country and all over the world. If you can do without regional coverage, Hulu + Live TV has a lot to offer.

Watch TBS with YouTube TV

YouTube TV offers a larger channel lineup than many of its competitors, including not only TBS but more than 110 other networks in its base plan. You get unlimited DVR space and the option to stream on up to three devices at once. The service also offers one of the largest lineups of add-ons to expand your channel lineup or add premium content.

What sports offerings does YouTube TV provide?

YouTube TV competes well with cable in terms of its overall lineup, and it’s no slouch when it comes to live sports. There aren’t any RSNs, but you’ll have all your local channels and big-name networks like ESPN, ESPNU, FS1, NFL Network, ACCN, SEC Network, TNT, TBS, and USA.

YouTube TV also offers plenty of add-ons to expand your coverage with extras like NFL Sunday Ticket, NBA League Pass, or the Sports Extra add-on. There’s not quite as much as you’ll find on a service like DIRECTV STREAM — especially for regional sports — but YouTube TV is a good option for sports fans who want plenty of other entertainment, news, and family programming.

Watch TBS on the app

Besides the app for your streaming service, you can also use the TBS app to stream live action directly on your mobile device or TV. It’s available on iOS and Android devices, as well as Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Microsoft Xbox. To watch live content, you’ll need to log in with your cable or streaming provider account.

As another option for streaming live sports on TBS, Warner Bros. Discovery just launched a sports add-on for Max. The Bleacher Report (B/R) Sports Add-On will stream live events that air on TBS, TNT, and TruTV, giving fans access to big games from the NBA, NHL, MLB, March Madness, and U.S. soccer. The service is free to all Max subscribers until Feb. 29, 2024, at which point it will cost $9.99 a month.

Final Take: Is streaming TBS worth it?

Streaming has opened up countless options for sports fans. If you want the complete sports experience you used to have on cable, you can find that on services like DIRECTV STREAM. But you’re also free to pick and choose a bit or even subscribe only when your favorite sports are in season. If you want to keep up with the big events on TBS, you’ve got plenty of choices.

Can I watch TBS without cable?

You can watch TBS with a subscription to many of the major live TV streaming services, including DIRECTV STREAM, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, and YouTube TV. If you’re only looking for TBS live sports, you might also check out the new B/R Sports Add-On for Max.

Does Amazon Prime have TBS?

TBS is not available on Amazon Prime. Although TBS offers an app for Amazon Fire TV, you’ll need a subscription to a cable provider or streaming service with TBS to view live content.

Does Paramount Plus have TBS shows?

Paramount Plus doesn’t feature TBS shows. Paramount Global and Warner Bros. Discovery are separate entities, so you’ll find TBS content on live TV services and Warner Bros. over-the-top service, Max.
