San Francisco 49ers star takes shot at Daniel Jones after miserable Week 4 outing

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones is not immune from criticism by opposing players. He saw this first-hand after Monday night’s ugly 24-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

It’s a game that saw the high-priced signal caller sacked a whopping 10 times while throwing a 97-yard pick-six into the hands of Seahawks rookie cornerbak Devon Witherspoon.

“We knew he liked to stare down his first target,” Witherspoon said of Jones after the game. Ouch, that’s a major burn.

Apparently, players on other teams were also watching the Giants’ game on Monday night. That included his Week 3 opponent, Arik Armstead of the San Francisco 49ers.

The star defensive lineman threw an amazing amount of shade in the direction of Jones and his disastrous offensive line.

“Daniel Jones I am so disappointed in you,” Armstead wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Why would you throw the ball so quick vs us and then let these people have a career day? Why weren’t we deserving?”

Jones is just taking strays everywhere.

In New York’s 30-12 loss to San Francisco back on September 21, the quarterback was sacked only two times. This is a small number given that he’s been taken down a whopping 22 times in four games.

This isn’t the first time that Jones has been on the receiving end of a criticism from a 49ers player after that Week 3 game.

“A lot of people who make all that money don’t even deserve it,” Niners linebacker Dre Greenlaw said of Daniel Jones, via the San Francisco Chronicle. “I think they took a chance (when they paid him). I mean, he’s not bad. And if you ain’t got nothing better.”

Jones had to know that he’d have a bullseye on him after signing a whopping four-year, $160 million contract extension with New York back in the spring.

The former first-round pick had led his team to a surprise playoff appearance the previous season despite throwing just 15 touchdown passes in 16 starts. It represented his career-best performance.

With the Giants at 1-3 on the season, things could soon spiral out of control. That’s magnified with road games coming up against the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills.

Just don’t expect opposing defenses to feel bad for him.
