Charles Oakley says “LeBron James will leave again”

LeBron James

As we all know by now, LeBron James is a very driven individual. If things aren’t going his way, he’s not afraid to make some changes, or maybe more accurately, change teams himself as we’ve seen twice before. The only reason we bring this up is because of the current state of the Los Angeles Lakers.

They are not the star-studded cast that their roster would suggest. Despite 53 All-Star appearances among them, the Lakers are in ninth place in the Western Conference, three games below .500.

So it stands to reason that the team may look to make some changes ahead of the Feb. 10 trade deadline. Roughly a month ago, there were even some murmurs about LeBron James possibly wanting out of town. While that’s not expected to happen ahead of the deadline, one former NBA All-Star wouldn’t rule out King James eventually leaving L.A. for greener pastures.

Making an appearance on SiriusXM Radio, former NBA forward Charles Oakley is generating some buzz based on his recent comments about LBJ. Basically, he deduces that since LeBron James has left his teams twice before, he’ll do so again unless the Lakers can become a championship contender.

Here are Oakley’s comments from yesterday’s radio appearance:

Would LeBron James want out of L.A.?

While it seems out of the blue for Charles Oakley to be commenting on the future of LeBron James, he has a good point. James will only want to keep playing if he can keep chasing more rings to add to his collection. If he feels the Lakers don’t present him with a good chance to continue his legacy by winning championships, he won’t hesitate to leave.

There’s also the factor of his son, Bronny James, entering the NBA in a few years. It’s been speculated for years that LeBron will want to play on the same team as his son. Unless the Lakers somehow position themselves to land Bronny, it’s very likely LeBron will leave at that time, if not sooner.
