New Orleans Saints’ Alvin Kamara among four indicted in Las Vegas nightclub beating

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is in some hot water with authorities a little over a calendar year after he was involved in an incident inside a Las Vegas nightclub.

It was back in February of 2022 when Kamara was arrested by authorities in Sin City during Pro Bowl weekend for allegedly taking part in a beating. Now, a Clark County grand jury has indicted the Pro Bowler on conspiracy to commit battery and battery resulting in substantial bodily harm.

Kamara was one of four men indicted by the grand jury, including Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Chris Lammons.

The victim, Darnell Greene, told authorities in Las Vegas that he was waiting outside an elevator at the famed Drai’s Nightclub. According to Greene’s lawsuit, Kamara put his hands on the victim’s chest in order to prevent him from entering the elevator. Greene claims that Kamara bragged about the beating to a member of his entourage, saying “I connected with the (expletive’s) jaw so hard.”

“[Kamara] chased Greene down the hall and proceeded to strike him multiple times until he was knocked to the ground. At no point during the attack did Greene hit, punch, or push Kamara or any of his associates.”

The indictment will now move to a district court with an initial court date set for March 2. The more serious of the two charges, battery resulting in substantial bodily harm, carries a mandatory fine of $10,000 and a sentence of between one-to-five years in jail.

Kamara, 27, was a third-round pick of the Saints back in 2017. He earned five consecutive Pro Bowl appearances to open his career before a somewhat down 2022 season.

  • Alvin Kamara stats (2017-22): 5,135 rushing yards, 4.5 average, 430 receptions, 3,753 receiving yards, 8,888 total yards, 71 TD

The NFL has yet to comment on an indictment being handed down to Kamara and fellow NFLer Chris Lammons.

As for what this means in New Orleans, there were already rumors that the Saints might be looking to trade Alvin Kamara. Depending on how the legal situation plays out, a divorce could very well be in the cards. But that’s the least of his worries right now.
