The New York Knicks have been cursed with injuries in 2024, but finally, Thursday brought some very good news about not one, but two of their injured stars and potential returns to the court.

After the Knicks made a December trade for Toronto Raptors 3-and-D ace OG Anunoby, the team evolved into one of the most feared units in the league. It was all the more impressive because they have also been without defensive anchor Mitchell Robinson for much of the season.

However, in one fell swoop their momentum was completely derailed when All-Star Julius Randle and Anunoby suffered serious injuries that sidelined them for weeks. Then over the weekend budding superstar Jalen Brunson suffered a knee injury that made Knicks fans fear their season was now officially going down the toilet.

However, things are looking up for the boys from Gotham. After initial reports showed Brunson’s injury was not as serious as some feared, head coach Tom Thibodeau revealed on Thursday that the All-Star guard took part in much of today’s practice and has not been ruled out for their game against the Orlando Magic on Friday night.

Yet that is not where the good news ends. Thibodeau also informed reporters that Anunoby’s recovery from elbow surgery continues to progress and he went through contact drills and played five-on-five games during practice. His status has officially been upgraded to “day-to-day.”

The Knicks need their stars back as soon as possible. They are 6-10 since Randle and Aunuoby went down at the end of January.
