Philadelphia Eagles’ Lane Johnson to undergo surgery after delaying it for Super Bowl run

Philadelphia Eagles star right tackle Lane Johnson still performed like one of the best players at his position during the team’s Super Bowl run despite dealing with a painful abdominal injury.

The reigning NFL First-Team All-Pro missed the final two games of the regular season with said injury. However, he initially opted to put off surgery once the NFL Playoffs started — appearing in all three of Philadelphia’s postseason games.

One day after his Eagles lost in dramatic fashion to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII, Johnson will now undergo the surgery.

It remains to be seen how long the star player will be out. But Johnson should be good to go at some point during off-season activities.

This is just a testament to the toughness that Johnson has continued to display after Philadelphia made him the No. 4 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Oklahoma.

In 10 NFL seasons, Lane Johnson has dealt with a plethora of injuries. As recently as 2020, Johnson missed nine games due to an ankle injury.

At 32-years-old, Johnson has been as good as ever recently. According to Pro Football Focus, Johnson did not allow a single sack or pressure during the 2022 regular season.

He was one of the primary reasons why Jalen Hurts morphed into one of the game’s best quarterbacks and is coming off an historic Super Bowl performance despite Philadelphia’s narrow loss to Kansas City.
