DraftKings Week 9 picks: Quarterbacks

NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Buffalo Bills
Mark Konezny-USA TODAY Sports

Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys, $6,500

As the fifth-highest-priced quarterback on the Week 9 slate, Dak Prescott is a great value play in DraftKings. The Philadelphia Eagles have been giving away points like candy, allowing the third-most DraftKings quarterback fantasy points this season. Prescott is hot, coming fresh off of a 304-passing yard, four-TD game.

Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints, $5,700

A salary-friendly play in DraftKings for Week 9 is Derek Carr hosting the Bears. The Bears’ defense has been hot trash, being the third-worst against opposing quarterbacks in fantasy football. Note that Chicago has allowed 17 passing touchdowns — the second-highest in the NFL.

Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, $5,200

Those looking for an extreme value play in DraftKings at QB might consider Baker Mayfield. Mayfield and the Bucs head to Houston, where over the Texans’ last two games, they’ve given up 588 passing yards and two TDs. Mayfield has been playing pretty cleanly and last passed for 237 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

DraftKings Week 9 picks: Running Backs

NFL: New Orleans Saints at Indianapolis Colts
Marc Lebryk-USA TODAY Sports

Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints, $8,100

Stacking the smoking-hot Alvin Kamara with Derek Carr in your DraftKings Week 9 lineup could pay off well. Even priced as the highest RB this week, Kamara should run all over Chicago’s defense, which has awarded 25.5 DraftKings fantasy points on average to running backs this year.

Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis Colts, $6,400

At this salary, Jonathan Taylor is an excellent DraftKings start facing the Carolina Panthers. He could be slated for that huge breakout game facing a Panthers defense that has yielded the second-most RB fantasy points. This includes Caroling giving up a league-high 14 running back TDs.

Kareem Hunt, Cleveland Browns, $5,500

With Jerome Ford slowly being eased back, Kareem Hunt makes for a savvy value play in Week 9 DFS lineups. Hunt and the Browns have a juicy home matchup against the Cardinals. Note that Arizona has allowed the third-most RB fantasy points in DraftKings this season.

Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers, $5,000

Hubbard has been dominating the backfield and if the Panthers continue to ride with him as the hot hand, he has a nice DFS matchup for Week 9 versus the Colts. Indianapolis has been the fifth-worst against opposing running backs and has given up 12 total touchdowns to the position.

DraftKings Week 9 picks: Wide Receivers

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers
Tork Mason-USA TODAY Sports

CeeDee Lamb, Dallas Cowboys, $8,200

As the third-highest-priced WR on the Week 9 DraftKings slate, Lamb is an excellent play in Philly. The Eagles should have no answers for stopping Lamb as the NFL team that has surrendered the most fantasy points to WRs this year. Lamb last recorded a ridiculous 180 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns.

Jordan Addison, Minnesota Vikings, $6,000

Very affordable, Jordan Addison is a smart Week 9 play in DraftKings with the Vikings likely throwing the ball tons to keep competitive with Atlanta. Even without Kirk Cousins, expect Addison’s targets to be plentiful facing a defense that has awarded 10 WR TDs (the third-most) this year.

Jahan Dotson, Washington Commanders, $5,000

At this price, Dotson is a salary-friendly WR in DraftKings for Week 9 coming from his best fantasy performance of the year. The Commanders play in New England against a shaky Pats defense that has yielded nine WR touchdowns and the eighth-most DraftKings fantasy points in 2023.

Demario Douglas, New England Patriots, $4,000

Douglas should see an uptick in targets with Kendrick Bourne out for the season. At this price, Douglas is a sleeper DraftKings value play in Week 9 at home against the Commanders. Simply stated, Washington has allowed the most DraftKings wide receiver points. Remember that A.J. Brown last shredded the Commanders for 130 yards and two TDs.

Jaylen Reed, Green Bay Packers, $3,600

On the ultra-cheap DraftKings slate is Jaylen Reed with a home matchup against the Rams. Last week, the Rams gave up 240 yards to the Dallas WR crew. With Reed receiving 10 targets over his past two games and scoring a touchdown, his involvement should continue.

DraftKings Week 9 picks: Tight Ends

Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints, $4,700

Hill’s involvement in offensive plays has increased substantially over his last two games after recording a total of 39.3 DraftKings fantasy points. With Chicago giving up the farm in yards and fantasy points on a regular basis, slide Hill into your Week 9 lineup at TE and watch the points roll in.

Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals, $3,700

I touted McBride as a DraftKings value play last week, and he rewarded big time. So, at $3,700, McBride once again is a sleeper play in Week 9, even facing the Cleveland defense. The Cardinals should keep McBride plenty involved as a weapon on offense after last peppering him with 14 targets.

DraftKings overrated plays Week 9

NFL: Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Commanders
Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

Quarterbacks:

Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles, $8,000

Hurts is never a terrible DraftKings option. However, as the second-highest-priced QB in Week 9, he is overrated and may come up a bit short playing the Cowboys. Dallas’ passing defense is no joke and it has yielded the second-fewest DraftKings fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Honestly stated, the aforementioned Dak Prescott makes for a wiser start against Philly.

Running Backs:

Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers, $6,200

As the eighth-most expensive DraftKings running back, Jones has no business being in your Week 9 lineup. This is an overrated price to pay for Jones who has yet to crack 40 rushing yards in his last two games. Plus, Jones plays a Rams defense that has given up the fifth-fewest RB fantasy points.

Wide Receivers:

Davante Adams, Las Vegas Raiders, $8,100

The Raiders are a complete dumpster fire and starting Davante Adams at his lofty DraftKings salary could be a big mistake in Week 9. Even with coaching and quarterback changes, Adams might not reward for this price versus the New York Giants. Note that the Giants have allowed only seven WR touchdowns over eight games.

Tight Ends:

Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons, $4,100

Even at a mere $4,100, Kyle Pitts is an overrated DraftKings play in Week 9. After two standout games in Weeks 5 and 6, Pitts has lofted back to the fantasy-irrelevant column. The Falcons host the Vikings, whose defense has ceded only 36.4 TE yards per game and three TDs.
