Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis will be suspended one game after having one game knocked off his original two-game ban, the team announced Tuesday.

Davis received his suspension for a blindside block on Green Bay Packers receiver Davante Adams during an interception return Sunday. Davis led with the crown of his helmet, launching into the side of Adams’ head (watch here).

Originally, the league gave Davis two games because it said he was considered a repeat offender.

Davis will sit out Week 16’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and will be able to return for the team’s final regular season game against the Atlanta Falcons.

In 14 games this year, Davis had tallied 66 tackles and 2.5 sacks as one of Carolina’s three starting linebackers.
