NFL suspends Thomas Davis two games for hit on Davante Adams

Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis has been suspended two games by the NFL for his dirty hit on Green Bay Packers receiver Davante Adams.

The NFL announced the suspension on Monday, citing Davis as a repeat offender.

Davis launched into Adams on an interception return on Sunday. Adams was looking the other way, and Davis led with the crown of his helmet right into the side of Adams’ head (watch here). The NFL absolutely should have suspended him, but two games isn’t consistent with other suspensions for similar penalties.

Davis will appeal this suspension and likely have a game knocked off, in this scribe’s estimation based on other suspension this year. He has three business days to make the appeal.
