Earlier on Wednesday it was reported that third-year Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback C.J. Wilson severely injured his hand in a fireworks accident over the Fourth of July Weekend.
Specifics are now coming in, and it’s not good.
According to Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times, the 25-year-old defensive back lost two fingers in the accident:

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport is also reporting that Wilson’s career could be in jeopardy:
The hand injury suffered by #Bucs CB CJ Wilson is very serious. His health is the focus now, but fireworks have put his career in jeopardy.

Some may call Wilson out for being immature, but his health has to be the focus here. No one wants to see a career put in jeopardy over an accident. More than that, the potential handicap that comes with losing two fingers on one hand has to be the central focus here.
This report comes days after New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul suffered injuries to one of his hands in a fireworks accident. No further details on Pierre-Paul’s condition are available.
