It’s the offseason, which means NFL players are changing teams at breakneck speeds. We’ve seen several quarterbacks find new homes, but not Justin Fields, who the Chicago Bears have placed on the trade block.

Yet, to this point, there have been no takers for the 11th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. It’s a fascinating development for a player who finished with 1,143 rushing yards in 2022, and even earned an MVP vote in just his second season of play.

Still just 25, there appears to be a lot of upside left with Fields. It’s just a matter of whether there’s a team that can maximize the former Ohio State star’s potential as a passer. Meanwhile, we’ve seen others who haven’t shown as much traded in recent time, including the likes of Desmond Ridder and Kenny Pickett after their respective teams have found new starters. But again, not Fields.

Just because Fields hasn’t been dealt yet, it doesn’t mean teams haven’t shown an interest in working out a trade. But it’s possible the Bears have set an asking price that teams just aren’t ready to meet.

According to ESPN’s Dan Graziano, the Philadelphia Eagles are one team that recently registered interest in trading for Fields. But this was before they landed Pickett on Friday, which likely takes Philadelphia out of the running for Chicago’s QB too. With Jalen Hurts, Pickett, and Tanner McKee on the roster, the Eagles are likely set at the position, aside from maybe another draft pick or undrafted free agent that gets a tryout.

“The Eagles, from what I understand talking to sources around the league, were one of the teams that had talked to the Bears about Justin Fields, but obviously could not get to the point where they agreed on a price, so they traded for Pickett.”

Meanwhile, the Bears will have to find another trade partner for Fields, but eventually, another suitor will emerge. Possibly even the Denver Broncos if they’re not able to land another future starter in the 2024 NFL Draft.
