Stephen Curry will be rooting for the local San Francisco 49ers over Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII this coming Sunday.
This doesn’t mean he won’t be supportive of Mahomes after the two met years ago on the golf course. They have continually praised one another since this relationship started.
Leading up to the big game on Sunday, that has not changed. Curry was asked recently about Mahomes’ status as the face of the NFL and how the reigning NFL and Super Bowl MVP is handling said status.
“If you know anything about the NFL and you watch games and pay attention to the news cycle, there are certain names that move the needle — and Patrick is obviously at the top of that list,” Stephen Curry on Patrick Mahomes, via the NY Post. “I do embrace the responsibility of it in the sense of how you carry yourself and what you give to the game and understanding there’s a timeline on this.”
Outside of their golf games, Curry and Mahomes have a lot in common. They have both won multiple titles and MVP awards in their respective sports. Their admiration for one another hasn’t been a quiet thing, either.
During Super Bowl Opening Night on Monday, Mahomes took time to praise Curry.

Mahomes can earn his third Super Bowl with a win over the 49ers on Sunday in Las Vegas. It would put him just one behind what Curry has accomplished in the NBA.
This doesn’t mean Curry is rooting for Mahomes and the Chiefs.
“Got the 49ers in the building. Showing that NFC Championship love. Gonna get that Super Bowl. Maybe inspired us a little bit. Let’s go,” Curry said recently after 49ers players appeared at a game in San Francisco.
