The shocking trade of star wide receiver Stefon Diggs from the Buffalo Bills to the Houston Texans on Wednesday promises to have wide-ranging ramficiations moving forward.

The blockbuster came after a couple drama-filled seasons between Diggs and his Bills organization. It also comes with the Bills now having to find more help for Josh Allen if they want to contend for a Super Bowl title.

A lot will be made about the move Houston made after its surprising playoff appearance a season ago. Getting Diggs to team up with what the team already has at the skill positions for young quarterback C.J. Stroud is no small thing.

For now, a lot of the focus on how Diggs’ brilliant four-year run with the Bills came to an end has been the talk.

“I can’t begin to express the amount of love and respect I have for the city of Buffalo. Four of the best years of my life, the city welcomed me with open arms. I’m forever grateful for all of you and the Buffalo Bills’ organization.” Diggs wrote on Instagram. “Something special was built over these years with some very special men, that will always have a place in my heart. Bills Mafia, so many great memories created throughout the years. Those games were crazy because of you. Sadly, good things come to an end.”

Diggs giving a shout out to the Bills’ organization was definitely a good look given the aforementioned drama between the two. And of course, the Bills’ fan base is among the craziest in the professional sports world. He recognized that in a big way.

Diggs, 30, tallied 445 receptions for 5,372 yards and 37 touchdowns in four seasons with the Bills. That came after a strong five-year run with the Minnesota Vikings.
