The Seattle Seahawks overhauled their safety room this offseason, cutting ties with Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs as part of the transition to a new defensive system. However, there’s reportedly a chance head coach Mike Macdonald will bring one of them back for the 2024 season.

Adams, who turns 29 in October, appeared in just nine games last season and has played in 10 total contests over the last two years. Even with new additions made to the Seahawks’ secondary, Adams played 84 percent of the defensive snaps last fall.

Since being released, Adams hasn’t popped up in NFL rumors with very limited signs of interest from teams in free agency. However, with the 2024 NFL Draft in the rearview mirror, there does appear to be a market for the three-time Pro Bowl selection with Seattle involved.

According to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, Adams has been in contact with team officials this offseason and the interest in a return is viewed as ‘legitimate’ for both sides. While other teams are also in the mix, staying with Seattle is very much in the cards.

However, Macdonald and the new Seahawks’ coaching staff reportedly have no intention of keeping Adams at safety. Instead, per Brady Henderson of ESPN, Adams would convert to weakside linebacker. However, the Seahawks’ reporter doesn’t get the sense a signing is likely to happen.

As for other potential landing spots, Condotta noted that the San Francisco 49ers are among a “handful” of clubs that have reached out to Adams this offseason. However, there are no signs that a deal with any team is imminent.
