Romeo Doubs doesn’t see a big difference between Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love

Could Jordan Love give the Green Bay Packers similar production to what they experienced with Aaron Rodgers? According to second-year receiver Romeo Doubs, who only started seven games with the four-time MVP, Love can be every bit as good as Rodgers was in Green Bay.

Doubs, the 132nd pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, sat down with Dennis Krause of Spectrum News 1, where the 23-year-old opened up about various topics surrounding the Packers. Perhaps the most notable was his heaping praise for Love, who’s heading into his fourth NFL season, but his first as a starter.

Here was how one exchange went down between Krause and Doubs.

Krause: Obviously, there’s been a change of quarterback. Do you see a difference in Jordan?

Romeo: No. I think Jordan can do it. I think Jordan is a really good quarterback. When you go from Aaron Rodgers to Jordan, Aaron was a really great quarterback, but I believe Jordan can do the same exact thing. So I don’t really see what’s the big difference.

It’s not surprising to hear a wide receiver prop up his quarterback, but any time a Super Bowl-winning QB gets compared to a player who hasn’t proven anything yet, people take notice. As Doubs says, he “believes” Love can do the same exact thing, but actually doing and believing are much different.

While it’s true that Love, the 26th overall pick in 2020, may have all the potential in the world, the truth is he just hasn’t proven it. Of course, he also hasn’t gotten a chance due to being stuck behind No. 12 in Green Bay since the day he was drafted. That’s not his fault either.

It’s great that Doubs believes in his teammate, but he also never got to see Rodgers firing on all cylinders when he was winning MVPs or leading the Packers to the Super Bowl. He only experienced Rodgers in 2022, when the QB threw 12 interceptions, just one shy of his career-high.

Doubs has big expectations for Love and the Packers this season. If coach Matt LaFleur and Co. can improve upon their 14th-ranked offense from a year ago, many would call that a success. But in their first season without Rodgers, many expect a much different outcome, likely one that comes closer to having the Packers vie for a top pick in the 2024 NFL Draft instead of a playoff spot.
