The New York Jets made a call to the Las Vegas Raiders ahead of Tuesday’s trade deadline in an attempt to acquire star wide receiver Davante Adams, ESPN reported Saturday night.

A deal bringing Adams to New York would reunite the six-time Pro Bowl selection with longtime quarterback Aaron Rodgers, whom he played with in Green Bay for eight seasons. Rodgers is in his first season with the Jets but is currently sidelined with a torn ACL.

New York discussed a deal for Adams during the offseason, per ESPN, which also reported that Las Vegas was keen on holding onto Adams in the wake of coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler being fired.

Adams, 30, expressed frustration last month regarding his role in the Raiders’ offense. He has 47 receptions for 539 yards and three touchdowns in eight games this season.

Las Vegas will be mixing things up under center, though, as rookie Aidan O’Connell is set to start Sunday’s game against the visiting New York Giants.

The Jets will get to see their desired trade target up close in Week 10, as they are scheduled to visit Adams and the Raiders next Sunday.

Las Vegas is 3-5, while the Jets are 4-3.
