The first day of the 2017 NFL Draft is in the books and some major trade action went down. For starters, the Chicago Bears surprisingly swapped their No. 3 spot with the San Francisco 49ers’ No. 2 to trade up for quarterback Mitch Trubisky.

That trade involved the Bears also giving up their 2017 third and fourth-round picks in addition to their 2018 third-rounder. Many are of the opinion the Bears gave up way too much.

According to this report by NFL’s Ian Rapoport, the Bears did what it took to secure Pick No. 2 because the 49ers legitimately received another offer from another team looking to move up.

Chicago wanted a quarterback that the Cleveland Browns and perhaps a few other teams were targeting. Holding all the leverage here, San Francisco obviously went for the best offer.

Keep in mind, that the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans both moved up as well to select quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson, respectively.

In all, three quarterbacks were selected in the first round of the draft. It will be interesting to see if DeShone Kizer is the next to get drafted. It is rumored that the Green Bay Packers are interested.
