The Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly placed their top pass rushers from 2023 on the trade block, which could lead to the organization being a major player in the pass rusher market in NFL free agency.

After falling apart late in the season, and seeing their hopes of returning to the Super Bowl quickly dashed in the Wild Card Round of the NFL playoffs, the Eagles are expected to shake up their culture this offseason. The coaching staff has already seen some notable overhauls and more are sure to come for the locker room soon.

Over the last few weeks, there have been rumblings that linebacker Haason Reddick is available in a trade for interested teams. However, on Saturday NFL Media league insider Tom Pelissero reported that “The Eagles are having trade calls on DE Josh Sweat.” Both men combined for 17.5 sacks for Philly last season.

The combined cap numbers for Reddick and Sweat in 2024 are over $30 million (via OverTheCap). Moving them would free up a lot of cap space and both would certainly have a good amount of interest in the trade market. That is why fellow NFL Media reporter Daniel Jeremiah claimed moving both “would make Philly a player for big pass rushing target” in free agency.

The Eagles are expected to have over $42 million available this offseason. However, if they can trade Sweat and Reddick and not take back more salary, they could end up with well over $70 million for an elite-level pass rusher in free agency.

The most notable sack masters up for grabs this offseason are Kansas City Chiefs great Chris Jones and four-time Pro Bowler Danielle Hunter. If the Eagles did not want to spend at the top of the market, there are also strong second-tier options in Leonard Williams, Bryce Huff, and Chase Young.

The Eagles potentially signing both Huff and Williams in the next few weeks — assuming Sweat and Reddick are traded — seems very possible.
