New England Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski secured a four-year, $17.2 million deal just hours before the franchise tag deadline approached. This makes him the highest-paid kicker in the NFL.
The 31-year-old kicker has made 86.8 percent of his attempted field goals during his nine-year career. Additionally, Gostkowski had his two best seasons in 2013 and 2014, making 92.7 and 94.6 percent of his field goals respectively. During these past two seasons, Gostkowski made 6-of-7 field goal attempts of 50-plus yards.
With a new PAT rule being adopted that moves the extra point back to the 15-yard line, Gostkowski remains as important as ever to the Patriots’ high scoring offense.
