Panthers’ interim GM reinstated after two-week investigation concludes

We’re not yet sure if Marty Hurney will become the full-time Carolina Panthers’ general manager. But Hurney is now free to resume his interim duties after a two-week investigation cleared him of any wrongdoing stemming from a harassment claim by his ex-wife.

This comes mere weeks after the NFL placed Hurney on paid leave as it investigated whether said claims were true. It also comes with the Panthers now weeks away from free agency starting.

Hurney’s contract as the Panthers’ GM runs through June. Since he was placed on leave by the NFL, Carolina interviewed a plethora of candidates for the full-time job. It’s not yet known whether this investigation will play a role in the team’s final decision.

But one should be made here soon in order for some continuity to take hold within an organization that’s going to be working under a new ownership group in the coming months.
