Unfortunate OG Anunoby injury update for the New York Knicks

New York Knicks star forward OG Anunoby just recently returned from an 18-game absence due to a shoulder injury.

The three-and-D wing played in three games heading into Monday night’s outing against the Golden State Warriors.

Unfortunately, Anunoby’s shoulder injury has flared up again. He’s already been ruled out for Monday’s game in San Francisco.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the expectation is that it will be a multi-game absence for the recently-acquired forward.

This is not great news for the veteran forward and his team. New York heads into this week’s action with a 40-27 record and as the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. It is 3.5 games behind the Milwaukee Bucks for a top-two seed with 15 games remaining in the regular season.

The Knicks are a mere 8-10 in games Anunoby has not played since they acquired him in a blockbuster trade with the Toronto Raptors earlier in the season.

With the three-and-D wing on the court, the Knicks boast a 15-2 record in the 17 games. Needless to say, he’s important to New York’s success.
