NBA insider says Ja Morant will be suspended for at least 41 games

After once again flashing a gun during a social media post just months after being suspended eight games for the same act, everyone knows a Ja Morant suspension is coming. It’s only a matter of when and how many games for the Memphis Grizzlies superstar.

Previous reports have already hinted at Morant facing a ‘significant suspension,’ and now another NBA insider backs up that suggestion with a more specific penalty for the two-time All-Star.

According to Sam Amico of Hoops Wire, league sources are indicating Morant will be suspended for “no less than the first half of the regular season.” Based on how he responded to his first suspension, the league is hoping to come up with a better solution this time around.

Morant, 23, will be entering his fifth year in the NBA and is the obvious face of the franchise in Memphis. Yet, his off-court actions have drawn attention for all the wrong reasons. At this point, the focus should be on helping Morant improve instead of how quickly he can return to the basketball court.

Whatever suspension gets handed out will likely be much more significant than last year’s, which came with the Grizzlies jockeying for position in the Western Conference playoff race. No matter what, expect the NBA to have other measures in place to help ensure Morant doesn’t make the same mistake again.
