Before Saturday, Alabama was the No. 1 team in the nation. After getting waxed by Auburn, the Tide might not even get in, but don’t tell that to Joe Namath.

Echoing comments made by Nick Saban following ‘Bama’s 26-14 Iron Bowl loss that the Crimson Tide should still play for the title, Namath made his opinion known Sunday morning.

Of course, it’s hardly surprising that Namath, an Alabama alumnus, would hold this view. Namath was the starting quarterback for the Crimson Tide three years in a row before he made his way to the pros.

Other, less-biased people might point to Alabama’s less than impressive resume in terms of beating quality opponents compared to other “top” schools in 2017. Regardless, nobody should be surprised if the CFP committee does show its own bias and somehow justifies sneaking Alabama into the No. 4 spot after championship weekend.
