Seattle Seahawks star safety Jamal Adams was not on the field as his team pulled off a dramatic late-game comeback over the Philadelphia Eagles at home Monday night.

It seems as if Adams was a healthy scratch after struggling with both injuries and consistency throughout the 2023 season. In his stead, fellow safety Julian Love recorded two interceptions of Jalen Hurts. That included the game-sealing pick.

One day later, and the Adams situation is being discussed by Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll. He confirmed Adams was not present at Lumen Field for the game. “I think he was home,” Carroll said. Seahawks insider Gregg Bell confirmed Adams’ absence.

Though, it’s not known whether he left the stadium after learning of being inactive or didn’t show up in the first place.

This is just the continuation of drama that has surrounded the injury-plagued Adams in recent weeks. It was earlier in December that he went off on a New York Jets writer by criticizing his wife’s looks on social media before doubling down.

Adams, 28, has missed 30 games to injury since Seattle acquired him in a blockbuster trade with the New York Jets ahead of the 2020 season.

Thus far this season, he has struggled big time in coverage for Seattle. The former first-round pick from LSU has yielded an 80.6% completion and 111.7 QB when targeted on the campaign. It’s what led to the back-and-forth between the Jets writer earlier in December.

Adams is currently playing under a four-year, $70.58 million contract extension he signed with Seattle back in August of 2021. The Seahawks can designate him a post-June 1 cut this coming offseason, saving $16.5 million against the cap. Expect that to happen.

It’s a dramatic fall from grace for Jamal Adams, who earned three consecutive Pro Bowl appearances between the Jets and Seahawks from 2018-2020. That span also saw him make the All-Pro team each season.
