There have been a lot of rumblings about what the Houston Rockets could do to bolster their roster this summer, and that now includes possibly trying to swing a blockbuster trade for one of the best players in the Eastern Conference.
For a third straight season, the Houston Rockets have been a disaster. Despite having a nice young star in Jalen Green and the third pick overall in the 2022 NBA Draft, Jabari Smith Jr., the team has not progressed whatsoever this season. At this point, there is no reason to believe this rebuild will bare any notable fruit in the foreseeable future.

That is why there have been recent reports the organization could make some big offseason moves to try and take some major leaps ahead in their rebuilding process. With the team set to have some of the most cap space in the league this summer, there have been rumors the Rockets could target a reunion with team legend James Harden.
Houston Rockets (’22-’23): 19-60
However, a new report claims they could instead target a younger star guard with a major upside.
On a Friday edition of ESPN 97.5 Houston’s “The Bench,” co-host John Granato revealed some “inside” information on the Houston Rockets’ plans this offseason.
“Yesterday I got some inside [information] on the Rockets organization. Bringing in veterans? They’re going to do that. I’m gonna tell you this, you’re going to hear a lot of noise about Jaylen Brown. He wants out of Boston.”

Fellow host Lance Zierlein then chimed in by adding how the idea parallels that of former Rockets President Daryl Morey and his belief that James Harden had lead superstar potential before they acquired him a decade ago, which proved to be completely accurate. As he went on a Hall-of-Fame run for Houston during his time there.
If the Boston Celtics win an NBA championship this season, moving Jaylen Brown would seem absurd. However, if they don’t it could be very possible since he only has one season left on his contract after this season and has been noncommital about re-signing with Boston.
The Celtics could feel moving him before he leaves in NBA free agency and possibly getting a lottery pick in 2023 and either Green or Smith Jr. would be a smart move for the franchise.
