Florida Panthers acquire Sam Bennett from Calgary Flames

The Florida Panthers acquired forward Sam Bennett from the Calgary Flames on Monday in exchange for a second-round pick of the 2022 NHL Draft and prospect Emil Heineman, TSN reported.

Bennett, who publicly asked for a trade earlier this season, has recorded 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in 38 games in 2020-21.

Bennett, 24, is in the final season of a two-year, $5.1 million contract that will expire at the end of this season.

Bennett has collected 140 points (67 goals, 73 assists) in 402 career games since being selected by the Flames with the fourth overall pick of the 2014 NHL Draft.

Heineman, 19, was selected by the Panthers in the second round of the 2020 NHL Draft. The forward has totaled 13 points (seven goals, six assists) over 43 games this season with Leksands IF of the Swedish Hockey League.
