Deshaun Watson: I’m chasing Tom Brady, I’m going for six

If there’s one thing quarterbacks in the 2017 NFL Draft class don’t lack, it’s confidence. After former Notre Dame quarterback DeShone Kizer compared himself to Tom Brady and Cam Newton, yet another soon-to-be rookie signal caller is setting high expectations for his career.

Fresh off leading his former Clemson team to a national championship, Deshaun Watson aims to win six more titles in the NFL. He’s also apparently dreaming of a day when he will surpass Brady as the greatest ever.

“I’m chasing the GOAT. I’m chasing Tom (Brady),” Watson said, via NFL Media. “I’m going for six. That’s the big thing.”

Tell us how you really feel, Mr. Watson.

This comes on the same day that an unnamed scout indicated that Watson is better than current Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott (more on that here).

Being compared to a fellow young signal caller is one thing. Setting your sights on becoming the next great NFL quarterback is a completely different thing.

Unlike Prescott and Brady, Watson is expected to go in the first round of the draft on Thursday night. He could even go as high as No. 2 overall to the San Francisco 49ers.

Though, Watson himself knows there’s a whole heck of a lot more to him becoming great than simple words spoken to the media.

“I know it’s going to be tough. It’s going to be hard. I gotta have the right situation, have some luck on the way,” Watson continued. “But that’s what I’m chasing.

For Watson and the rest of the NFL Draft class this chase starts Thursday evening in Philadelphia. Until any of them see the field, it’s probably not a bad thing for these youngsters to show confidence in their abilities.
