Dallas Cowboys star quarterback Dak Prescott is suing a woman who he claims tried to extort him of $100 million. Now that woman is firing back with plans to file a criminal complaint against the NFL star over an allegation of sexual assault.

Earlier this week, Cowboys QB Dak Prescott made headlines when it was revealed that he had filed a lawsuit in a Collin County, Texas court against Victoria Shores and her attorneys, Bethel T. Zehaie and Yoel T. Zehaie. The suit claimed that the trio was trying to extort him of $100 million as they sought out a settlement over a claim of sexual assault by the star QB in 2017.

“Mr. Prescott found himself the subject of an extortion plot. The Defendant and her legal team have threatened to go public with a completely fabricated story of sexual assault from nearly a decade ago and demanded that Mr. Prescott immediately pay $100 Million in exchange for her not pressing false charges with the authorities,” Prescott’s lawyer Levi McCathern claimed in the filing.

Now the lawyers for Shores have responded and the filing could lead to a countersuit and criminal complaint. On Tuesday, Yoel Zehaie told Pro Football Talk his firm will be suing Dak Prescott on behalf of his client. Since the alleged incident occurred in February 2017, the statute of limitations in Texas has expired. However, the legal team has other routes they can use to go after the Dallas Cowboys star.

“There are other causes of action that, I don’t want to go too deep in detail about it, but that we do plan on filing soon,” Zehaie said. “It’s imminent and you will see it soon. So, to answer your question, are there things that we can sue him for? Yes.

“I’ll answer the question [about filing a criminal complaint] by saying yes. We don’t want to go too much into that. But, yes, we are in the middle of that process.”

A criminal complaint is a self-contained charge that must offer sufficient facts, with reasonable inferences, and allows a person to conclude that a crime was likely committed and that the defendant is likely culpable. If found guilty in Texas, a fine is the form of punishment for the charge and there is no jail time involved.

Both parties are within their legal rights to file for compensation over an alleged crime or sue to deny such claims.
