The Indianapolis Colts signed wide receiver KJ Hamler to the practice squad and elevated two other players to the active roster ahead of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Hamler, 24, was the 46th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos but played just 10 games over the past two seasons because of injuries.

The Broncos waived Hamler with a non-football illness designation on July 31. That came after he was diagnosed with a heart irritation called pericarditis.

Broncos coach Sean Payton said at the time that Hamler would be out about six weeks.

The Colts also elevated guard Ike Boettger and wide receiver Amari Rodgers from the practice squad to the active roster and released cornerback Darren Hall from the practice squad.

Hamler played in 23 games (six starts) from 2020-22 with the Broncos and caught 42 passes for 620 yards and three touchdowns. In 2022, he had seven receptions for 165 yards in seven games

Boettger, 28, an undrafted free agent from Iowa, entered the NFL in 2018. He has played in 35 career games (17 starts) with the Buffalo Bills (2018-23) and Colts (2023).

The Colts signed Rodgers, 24, to the practice squad on Aug. 30. In 32 career games (two starts) with the Packers (2021-22) and Houston Texans (2022), he has 20 catches for 249 yards and one touchdown. He has returned 40 punts for 305 yards (7.6 yards average) and 17 kickoff returns for 321 yards (18.9 average.

The Packers selected the Clemson product with the No. 85 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft.

Rodgers has appeared in one postseason contest and has registered two punt returns for 11 yards and three kickoff returns for 66 yards.
