Blazers announce Ed Davis is out for the season following shoulder surgery

By Michael Dixon

The Portland Trail Blazers announced on Tuesday that center Ed Davis underwent arthroscopic surgery in his left shoulder.

While the surgery was a success, his season is officially over.

Davis has played in 46 games for Portland this season, starting in 12.

He was averaging 4.3 points and 5.3 rebounds in 17.2 minutes per game, down from 6.5 points and 7.4 boards in 20.8 minutes per night a season ago. He last played on February 23.

The Blazers are currently fighting for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. They entered Tuesday’s action at 26-35, two games behind the Denver Nuggets for that spot.
