The Cleveland Browns were one of three teams seriously vying for the chance to sign six-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Gerald McCoy. Ultimately, McCoy chose to play for the Carolina Panthers. On Tuesday Baker Mayfield had something interesting to say about that.
Speaking to the media, Mayfield was asked to share his thoughts about McCoy choosing the Panthers over the Browns. His response was extra salty.
“He’s going to handle this stuff how he wants,” Mayfield said, per Josina Anderson of ESPN. “But you’re either on this train, or you’re not. It’s moving. You can get out the way or you can join us. So, it is what it is.”
Mayfield wasn’t the only Cleveland player to share an interesting reaction to McCoy choosing the Panthers over the Browns, either.
Clearly, the Browns thought they had sold themselves as the team to join. Of course, it’s hard to blame the defensive tackle for his decision, which allows him to face off against his former team twice a year.
