Oakland Athletics outfielder Matt Joyce directed a homophobic slur towards a fan during his team’s game on Friday against the Los Angeles Angels. On Saturday, Joyce was punished for the action in the form of a two-game suspension.

It was also announced that the money lost from the two-game suspension will go to PFLAG. Additionally, the A’s released a statement, stating their disappointment in Joyce’s comments.

For his part, Joyce released an apology through a series of tweets, which can be found on his verified Twitter page.
