Anthony Edwards answers which teammate he’d trade, KAT or Rudy Gobert?

Heading into the offseason, those outside the Minnesota Timberwolves organization felt it was only a matter of time before the team made a kneejerk reaction to a disappointing season. The big shoe expected to drop? Either a Karl-Anthony Towns or Rudy Gobert trade. But not if Anthony Edwards has any say in the matter.

Here we approach the start of another season, the second one with the All-Star trio the Timberwolves have put together, and there’s no talk of a big trade coming out of Minnesota any time soon. To those who understand that the team still hasn’t been able to see its core at full strength thanks to KAT’s lengthy injury plus Mike Conley’s late addition, this is no surprise, but many media members still can’t see the light.

For example, when Edwards was competing in the FIBA World Cup, he was asked a rather pointed question by a reporter. The question? Which teammate would you rather trade: Towns or Gobert?

Edwards’ non-verbal response, with the former No. 1 pick mostly ignoring the question, told one story. But then he responded with his words, which painted a much clearer picture for anyone curious about his relationship with his teammates.

“Neither one, man. I like all my teammates. I love them. They my brothers. I wouldn’t trade neither one of them.”

Anthony Edwards on if he’d trade KAT or Gobert

Yahoo’s Jake Fischer called it the “most impressive moment” from Ant his entire time overseas. Not bad, considering he led an All-Star Team USA cast in scoring, averaging 18.8 points per game.

While Team USA came up short, the Timberwolves’ organization has to feel good about where things stand heading into a new season, especially with the biggest parts of their core bought into the team’s current direction.
