Report: Jets expected to name Adam Gase next head coach

Dolphins head coach Adam Gase did a tremendous job in his first season.

After being fired by the Miami Dolphins following three pedestrian seasons as the team’s head coach, Adam Gase will now reportedly take over as the head coach for the division-rival New York Jets.

This is certainly an interesting move for the Jets. Gase headed to South Beach back in 2016 with a ton of fanfare after being seen as an innovative offensive mind with the Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears.

It never came to fruition. Gase, 40, finished his career with the Dolphins having posted a 23-25 record while overseeing an offense that failed to finish in the top half of scoring in any of his three seasons. This past year alone, Miami ranked 30th in that category.

This news comes on the heels of Baylor head coach Matt Rhule turning down the opportunity to coach in New Jersey. Whether that means Gase was the Jets’ second option remains to be seen.
