Saints reportedly won’t match Ravens’ offer sheet to Willie Snead

Saints receiver Willie Snead

The Baltimore Ravens are on the verge of adding their third wide receiver of the offseason. Fresh off signing New Orleans Saints restricted free agent Willie Snead to an offer sheet earlier in the week, CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora is reporting that New Orleans won’t match said offer.

Given that the offer itself is said to be worth just $7 million over two seasons, it’s readily apparent that the Saints had no real interest in retaining Snead.

An undrafted free agent out of Ball State back in 2014, Snead recorded just eight receptions for 92 yards this past season. He is, however, one year removed from putting up a 72-895-4 stat line for New Orleans. That came on the heels of a near 1,000-yard performance back in 2015.

If Snead does indeed land with Baltimore, he’ll join the recently signed Michael Crabtree and John Brown as new targets for Joe Flacco under center. It’s also a clear indication that the Ravens will avoid wide receiver early in next week’s NFL Draft.
