Report: Ravens sign Willie Snead to offer sheet

Saints receiver Willie Snead

The Baltimore Ravens desperately need to restock the receiving corps, and they’re hoping New Orleans Saints wideout Willie Snead will provide a boost.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Snead, a restricted free agent, is signing a two-year offer sheet worth up to $10.4 million. New Orleans now has five days to decide whether to match the contract.

The move is somewhat curious, considering Snead managed just eight catches for 92 yards and fell out of New Orleans’ rotation last season. However, he posted 69 catches for 984 yards in 2015 and grabbed 72 passes for 895 yards in 2016.

But it also explains just how desperate Baltimore is for receivers. Plus, it could mean the Ravens haven’t gained much traction with Dez Bryant, for whom Joe Flacco publicly campaigned.

New Orleans is unlikely to match, since it signed Cameron Meridith and kept Brandon Coleman this offseason.
