Jets LB Dylan Donahue checks into treatment facility

Jets

Dylan Donahue, a New York Jets linebacker who has twice been arrested on drunken driving charges in the last 10 months, has voluntarily checked himself into a rehab center.

“Dylan recognizes the seriousness of these issues and has voluntarily taken some important initial steps to deal with them,” his agent Gary Uberstine, said, per Rich Cimini of ESPN. “He is committed to this process of self-improvement, appreciates people respecting his privacy as he works to get healthy, and will address this matter publicly at an appropriate time.”

The Jets also released a statement (per Cimini) backing Donahue.

“We respect and support Dylan’s decision to seek treatment. … It is important for him to focus on his health right now. The organization has a full support system in place when he is ready to return.”

This comes after fellow Jets player Robby Anderson also found himself in the news for all the wrong reasons recently. Unlike with Donahue, the Jets did not release a statement in support of Anderson. Though the team’s support of its former mid-round pick has more to do with him trying to get himself right off the field.

Donahue’s first arrest came in May in Montana, shortly after he was selected in the fifth round of 2017’s draft by the Jets. In February, he was arrested after crashing with a bus while driving the wrong way through the Lincoln Tunnel.

A rookie out of West Georgia, Donahue got into four games in 2017 and recorded four tackles.
