Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly has been in the concussion protocol since last week and has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears.

Kuechly has not practiced this week after suffering his third concussion in as many seasons during last Thursday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was injured when Eagles offensive guard Brandon Brooks pulled around on a block and hit him hard in the head/neck region, knocking him down.
The Panthers reportedly indicated they didn’t think Kuechly had suffered a concussion, but the fact he remains sidelined and in the league’s concussion protocol tells a different story. And at this point, given his history of brain injuries, the All-Pro linebacker should be making some serious inquiries about whether he should continue playing at all going forward, in this scribe’s opinion.
