Report: Decision on Johnny Manziel criminal investigation expected today

Johnny Manziel

After more than two weeks of investigating the incidents that occurred between Johnny Manziel and ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley on January 30, the Dallas Police Department is expected to announce a decision today, per Jeff Smith of NBC5:

The big issue that will have the greatest impact on Manziel — both from a personal and a career standpoint — is whether or not he’ll be charged with aggravated assault on Crowley.

If Manziel is charged with aggravated assault, he’s going to be facing stiff penalties

“In Texas, causing serious injury could be considered aggravated assault, which is a felony. The penalty for a conviction for a second-degree felony is two to 20 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000,” Pat McManamon of ESPN recently wrote.

His ex-girlfriend alleges Manziel hit her so hard on the night in question that he ruptured her eardrum. Furthermore, she alleges Manziel threatened both her and his life that night to the point where she pulled a knife on him as a means of self-protection.

The allegations by Crowley are serious, indeed.

The Dallas Police Department has gathered her medical records and video evidence from Hotel ZaZa in Dallas, Texas, along with other pertinent evidence the past couple of weeks to come up with a decision.

Stay tuned. This story is likely just getting started.
