Charles Woodson to retire after 2015 season

Charles Woodson Oakland Raiders No. 24

Charles Woodson announced Monday that this will be his final season playing in the NFL.

The future Hall of Famer made the announcement during a press conference, which you can watch here.

During his outstanding 18-year career, Woodson has amassed 65 interceptions, good for No. 5 on the all-time list. He’s also racked up 20 sacks, 33 forced fumbles, 18 fumble recoveries and 14 defensive touchdowns. He has been voted into the Pro Bowl eight times and is a three-time First-Team All-Pro.

This season with the Oakland Raiders, Woodson has played like a man half his age, tallying five interceptions and finally realizing his dream of intercepting Peyton Manning, who entered the league with him in 1998.

He’ll go down as one of the best defensive backs to ever play the game and should be a first-ballot Hall of Famer in 2020.
