Randall Cobb Reportedly Seeking Deal that Would Pay $9 Million Per Year

According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, Green Bay Packers’ wide receiver Randall Cobb is reportedly looking for a new contract that would pay him approximately $9 million per year.

If such a deal were signed, it would put Cobb in the neighborhood of what fellow wide receiver Jordy Nelson is making under his four-year deal he signed last summer for $39 million. While there may not be much likelihood the Packers would do a similar deal for Cobb this year, the team could afford to place a franchise tag of $12.3 million on Cobb due to their near $23 million in open cap space for 2015.

Cobb put up the best season of his four-year NFL career in 2014 with 91 receptions for 1,287 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. Should Cobb and the Packers not be able to come to an agreement and the team decides to let him test the free agency next month, he will make for one of the top receiving talents on the open market.
