According to a report from the NFL Players Association, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is the most popular player in the NFL in terms of merchandise sales.

The data gathered consisted of sales from March 1 through August 31 and ranked the players.

“Based on total overall sales of all officially licensed products from online and traditional retail outlets as reported by more than 80 NFLPI licensees such as Nike, VF Imagewear, Fanatics, Fathead, McFarlane Toys, Forever Collectibles and Photo File. Licensed product categories include men’s, women’s and youth game jerseys and T-shirts, murals, figurines, matted and framed photos, bobbleheads, drinkware, collectibles and electronic accessories, among others.”

Per the report, the top 10 most popular NFL player list based on merchandise sales are as follows:

  1. Russell Wilson
  2. Tom Brady
  3. Peyton Manning
  4. Aaron Rodgers
  5. J.J. Watt
  6. Dez Bryant
  7. Colin Kaepernick
  8. Richard Sherman
  9. Jason Witten
  10. Odell Beckham, Jr.

Interestingly enough, Wilson nudged out Tom Brady even though Wilson’s interception in Super Bowl XLIX gave Brady another ring.

Nevertheless, though the report covers March 1-August 31, it doesn’t appear that the “Deflategate” saga that ran rampant during that period tainted Brady’s reputation one bit.

On a different note, Kaepernick is an puzzling name on this list. Then again, with how terrible the quarterback has been performing since the August 31, it’s likely we’ll find many of his merchandise sitting on eBay—or perhaps decorating our local thrift shops.

In the end, congratulations to Wilson and may he find this much success trying to pedal his miracle recovery water.
