Russell Wilson sets ‘Recovery Water’ story straight: ‘I didn’t have a concussion’

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson wants us to believe a bottle of ‘Reliant Recovery Water’ a day kept the concussions away.

The world has not been right ever since Wilson made references to drinking ‘Reliant Recovery Water’ to prevent a concussion when he sustained a brutal hit by linebacker Clay Matthews in the NFC title game against the Green Bay Packers.

Wilson has now come out to set the story straight regarding his comments about the water (via ESPN):

“I didn’t have a concussion,” Wilson said. “I guess it was perceived wrong. I did not have a concussion. I was saying that I had been consistently drinking the water for a month and a half — five, seven times a day. And I was like, ‘Man, maybe this stuff is helping me out.'”

Wilson further explained:

“I didn’t have a head injury, but what I was trying to say is I think it helped prevent it,” he said. “I think your brain consists of like 75, 80 percent water, so I think that just being hydrated, drinking the recovery water really does help.”

Wilson also claimed that his teammates Russell Okung and Kam Chancellor also drink the water.

Concussion or not, Wilson apparently believes the Reliant Recovery Water is more beneficial than drinking regular bottled water. However, his agent Mark Rodgers, who was present when Wilson discussed the water, reminded that they do not medically endorse the product:

“Well, we’re not saying we have real medical proof.”

One wonders if we’ll see a pallet of Reliant Recovery Water bottles on the Seahawks sidelines instead of the standard Gatorade we normally see this season.
