There are few things more dangerous than game-changing speed on the gridiron and Wisconsin Badgers receiver Aron Cruickshank proved it on Saturday against Nebraska.
Memorial Stadium was electric after Nebraska’s go-ahead touchdown and riding a wave of momentum. That’s when Wisconsin’s explosive 5-foot-9 receiver hauled in the kickoff at the 11-yard line and turned on the afterburners with the Cornhuskers’ charred special teams unit left in his dust.
Nebraska simply had no answer for Cruickshank’s speed once he hit the open space. He hit the kicker with a stiff arm then used a little shake before coasting into the end zone.
The Badgers have used Cruickshank’s speed sparingly on offense this season. It might be time for that to change.
