Tourists in Brazil for the 2016 Rio Olympics have to be on high alert to avoid getting robbed on the streets in broad daylight by petty thieves.
VOIDtv posted some disturbing video on Facebook that illustrates the danger tourists are in.
Thieves are targeting necklaces, backpacks and purses of tourists while they are simply walking down the crowded streets. There is not even any pretense involved, as the young men and women involved are not hiding their intentions whatsoever.
Police made it clear before the Olympics began that they would not have the resources to properly control crime on the streets (more on that here).
So far, it’s clear they were right.
