Pete Rose is ineligible for the Professional Baseball Hall of Fame because he’s been banned from Major League Baseball. He was banned from Major League baseball because he was found to have gambled on the game.
Judging by a Super Bowl commercial that will air in Las Vegas during Super Bowl 50, he’s not exactly afraid to return to his gambling roots.
“We thought he would be great in the spot,” William Hill US CEO Joe Asher said, via the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Well, it’s certainly a clever ad, which is really what’s important.
We can also say that Rose is willing to have fun with his banishment from the game, which is good to see.
The one potential negative here is that it’s hard to imagine Major League Baseball ever considering Rose for reinstatement while he’s still doing commercials like this one. But quite honestly, Rose probably gains more notoriety from not being in the Hall of Fame and doing commercials like this one than he would if he was in the Hall of Fame.
As long as the ads are working, there’s really no reason for Rose to not keep doing this.
